Board Members

The Regional Municipality of York Police Service Board consists of seven civilian members as follows:

  • Head of Municipal Council​

  • Members of Council appointed by resolution of Council

  • Members appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council

  • Individual who is appointed by resolution of Council who is neither a member of Council nor an employee of the municipality

 

Mayor Steve PellegriniSTEVE PELLEGRINI, CHAIR, Regional Appointee

Steve Pellegrini is the Mayor of the Township of King and also King’s Regional representative on York Region Council. He was sworn into office in 2010 and is now serving his forth consecutive term. He has been acclaimed in the last three elections.

Mayor Pellegrini was appointed to the York Regional Police Service Board on June 1, 2021. He was elected as Chair of the Board at its meeting on January 22, 2025, until the Board's first meeting in 2026. This is his first term as Chair.  Mayor Pellegrini had previously been the Board's Vice Chair since December 2022.

 

Regional Councillor Linda JacksonLINDA JACKSON, VICE CHAIR, Regional Appointee

Regional Councillor and Deputy Mayor Jackson was appointed to the Police Service Board on December 15, 2022, for the term of Council. At it's meeting on January 22, 2025, she was elected as the Vice Chair of the Board. This is her first term as Vice Chair. 

Linda Jackson is the Deputy Mayor of the City of Vaughan. Linda sits on both the City of Vaughan and York Region Council as well as several boards, committees, and task forces. 

Walter J. Perchal

WALTER J. PERCHAL, Provincial Appointee

Walter Perchal was appointed to the Regional Municipality of York Police Services Board by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario for a three-year term commencing March 7, 2020. Walter Perchal was appointed to the Regional Municipality of York Police Service Board by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario for a three-year term commencing March 7, 2020. The Province has extended Mr. Perchal's appointment multiple times during his tenure, with his most recent reappointment effective March 23, 2025, for a one-year term. 

 

Mario CortellucciMARIO CORTELLUCCI, Provincial Appointee

The Lieutenant Governor of Ontario appointed Mr. Cortellucci to the Board for a three-year term effective October 20, 2022. 

Mario Cortellucci was born the rural farmland of Abruzzo, Italy. In search of opportunity, his father decided to immigrate to Canada. Mario, along with his mother and siblings, immigrated and reunited in Toronto a year later in 1962. 

 

Madeleine BodensteinMADELEINE BODENSTEIN, Provincial Appointee

Madeleine Bodenstein was appointed to the Regional Municipality of York Police Services Board by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario for a three-year term commencing April 20, 2023.

Madeleine Bodenstein is a Funeral Director and Preplanning Specialist, a Real Estate Salesperson, an LLQP Insurance Agent, and a Property Manager. 

 

Latif Fazel

LATIF FAZEL, Regional Appointee

Latif Fazel was appointed to the York Regional Police Service Board by York Region Council, effective December 16, 2024 for the remaining term of Council.

Mayor John TaylorJOHN TAYLOR, Regional Appointee

Mayor John Taylor was appointed to the York Regional Police Service Board by York Region Council, effective January 15, 2025 for the remaining term of Council.

John is currently the Mayor of the Town of Newmarket. He has represented Newmarket on both Town Council and York Region Council for 19 years, serving as Mayor for the past seven years.
