Board Members

The Regional Municipality of York Police Service Board consists of seven civilian members as follows:

  • Head of Municipal Council​

  • Members of Council appointed by resolution of Council

  • Members appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council

  • Individual who is appointed by resolution of Council who is neither a member of Council nor an employee of the municipality

 

Chairman Wayne EmmersonWAYNE EMMERSON, CHAIR, Regional Chairman & Chief Executive Officer

York Region Chairman and CEO Wayne Emmerson was re-elected as Chair of the Regional Municipality of York Police Services Board for the year 2024. Chair Emmerson has been Vice Chair of the Board since January 2022. Chairman Emmerson is currently serving his second term as York Region Chairman and CEO for The Regional Municipality of York. 

 

Mayor Steve PellegriniSTEVE PELLEGRINI, VICE CHAIR, Regional Appointee

Steve Pellegrini is the Mayor of the Township of King and also King’s Regional representative on York Region Council. He was sworn into office in 2010 and is now serving his forth consecutive term. He has been acclaimed in the last three elections.

Mayor Pellegrini was appointed to the York Regional Police Services Board on June 1, 2021. He was re-elected as Vice Chair in January 2024, until the Board's first meeting in 2025. He became the Board's Vice Chair in December 2022.

 

Norma McCulloughNORMA MCCULLOUGH, Regional Appointee

Norma McCullough was appointed to the York Regional Police Services Board by York Region Council, commencing on January 1, 2021, until the end of the term of Council. On December 15, 2022, Norma was reappointed for two years. 

 

 

 

Walter J. Perchal

WALTER J. PERCHAL, Provincial Appointee

Walter Perchal was appointed to the Regional Municipality of York Police Services Board by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario for a three-year term commencing March 7, 2020. Mr. Perchal was extended for one year in March 2023. He was reappointed for another one-year term, effective March 23, 2024. 

In 2022, Mr. Perchal completed the Diversity and Inclusion certificate from Cornell University.     

 

 

Mario CortellucciMARIO CORTELLUCCI, Provincial Appointee

The Lieutenant Governor of Ontario appointed Mr. Cortellucci to the Board for a three-year term effective October 20, 2022. 

Mario Cortellucci was born the rural farmland of Abruzzo, Italy. In search of opportunity, his father decided to immigrate to Canada. Mario, along with his mother and siblings, immigrated and reunited in Toronto a year later in 1962. 

 

Regional Councillor Linda JacksonREGIONAL COUNCILLOR AND DEPUTY MAYOR OF THE CITY OF VAUGHAN, Regional Appointee

Regional Councillor Jackson was appointed to the Police Services Board on December 15, 2022, for the term of Council. 

Linda Jackson is the Deputy Mayor of the City of Vaughan. Linda sits on both the City of Vaughan and York Region Council as well as several boards, committees, and task forces. She was recently re-appointed to the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) Executive Committee and Board of Directors.

Madeleine BodensteinMADELEINE BODENSTEIN, Provincial Appointee

Madeleine Bodenstein was appointed to the Regional Municipality of York Police Services Board by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario for a three-year term commencing April 20, 2023.

Madeleine Bodenstein is a Funeral Director and Preplanning Specialist, a Real Estate Salesperson, an LLQP Insurance Agent, and a Property Manager.
