• Police Service Board Extends Appointment of Chief Jim MacSween
  The Regional Municipality of York Regional Police Service Board has unanimously approved the extension of Chief Jim MacSween’s appointment by two additional years, effective May 1, 2025 and ending on April 30, 2027. Chief MacSween was appointed to the role of Chief of Police on May 1, 2020. His current term will end April 30, 2025.
• Appointment of New Executive Director
  The York Regional Police Services Board is pleased to announce the appointment of the Board’s new Executive Director, Anitra Basant Sisavang. Anitra has been serving as the Board’s Interim Executive Director since May 2023 and has been vital in helping the Board with the continuity of their important work over the last seven months.
• York Regional Police Response to Violence in the Middle East
  In light of the continued violence in the Middle East and community concern around safety and security within our region, York Regional Police is reassuring citizens that York Regional Police will continue to support our communities through increased outreach, visibility and police patrols across York Region.
• Appointment of New Deputy Chief Kevin McCloskey
  The York Regional Police Services Board is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Deputy Chief for York Regional Police. Superintendent Kevin McCloskey has been selected by the Police Services Board to fill the role due to the pending retirement of Deputy Chief Robertson Rouse in June of 2023. Superintendent McCloskey will assume the role on June 1, 2023.

  Professor Akwasi Owusu-Bempah presented the report of the Anti-Black Racism and Building Community Trust Committee (“the Committee”) to the Board in November 2022.

  York Region - After 36 years of exemplary police service to York Region residents Deputy Chief Robertson Rouse has announced his retirement. His last day will be June 15, 2023.
