Police Services Board Welcomes New Member

The York Regional Police Services Board welcomes its newest member Steve Z. Ranot who was appointed by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario for a three-year term commencing July 8, 2021.
“I am very pleased to welcome Mr. Ranot to our police services board. We look forward to his contributions to ensuring good governance, safe communities and quality policing services in York Region,” said Board Chair Maurizio Bevilacqua.
Mr. Ranot is a chartered accountant, chartered business valuator and a designated specialist in investigation and forensic accounting. He has a B. Comm. from the University of Toronto, graduated from the Canadian Securities Course and completed the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants three-year In-Depth Income Tax course. He was admitted to partnership at Marmer Penner Inc. in 1996 and became the managing partner in 2008.
Mr. Ranot’s practice consists of a wide range of litigation support including income tax matters and business and securities valuation. Mr. Ranot has testified in court as an expert witness in matters of business valuation, quantification of pecuniary damages, and quantification of income and income tax.
He has spoken, chaired and lectured at many professional seminars including those conducted by The Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators, The Law Society of Ontario, Canadian Bar Association, Ontario Bar Association among numerous others.
The Regional Municipality of York Police Services Board is a seven-member civilian Board that oversees the York Regional Police and is comprised of one member as Head of Municipal Council, three members are appointed by resolution of Regional Council and three by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario.
