Legislative/Regulatory Requirements

Section 29 of the Adequacy Standards Regulation requires a police services board to have a policy on bail and violent crime.  In addition, section 13(1)(k) requires the Chief of Police to establish procedures and processes with respect to bail and violent crime.

Board Policy

It is the policy of the Regional Municipality of York Police Services Board with respect to bail and violent crime that the Chief of Police will establish procedures on bail and violent crime that address:

  1. assessing opposing bail on the secondary grounds; 

  2. preparing the show cause report (bail hearing brief); 

  3. post-bail hearing notifications; and 

  4. breach of bail conditions.
