Welcome to the York Regional Police Service Board
To make a difference in our community
The York Regional Police Service Board is a civilian governing body mandated to oversee the York Regional Police. The Board is accountable to the community, and the Chief of Police is accountable to the Board.
Becoming a Board Member
The York Regional Police Service Board is working towards compliance with the Community Safety and Policing Act (2019), which came into effect on April 1, 2024, with regard to new regulations required of Police Service Boards (Sections 43 and 44 of the Act). Additionally, the Board is working to update its Policies as required under Section 38 of the Act.
The Ministry recognizes that this is an iterative process and that our Board is taking steps to get into compliance.
PLEASE NOTE: Should you wish to report any police related matters or require police assistance, please contact York Regional Police.
The Board is the governance oversight body and is unable to assist in direct policing matters or Police Record Checks.
